About Jesus

"You are the Christ. The Son of the Living God."

In our culture Jesus Christ has been reduced to a good man, or a good teacher, or a historical figure, or even a way to curse. But Jesus is more than that. Jesus' first followers were willing to risk their lives to proclaim:

There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12, ESV)

Jesus is Much More Than a Name

Good teacher? That He was. Good man? Indeed. But if you stop there you miss the point. Jesus claimed to be God's own Son - a claim for which He died. He was fully God, co-existent with God the Father from the beginning of all time. Everything that exists was made through Him (you can read more about this in John 1).

Jesus Was Someone Who Did Something

And that something was to take on human flesh (John 1:14), live a perfect life (Hebrews 4:16) and die a sinner's death at the hands of cruel oppressors (2 Corinthians 2:14-15). He really lived. He really died. He really did rise again on what we call Resurrection Sunday, or Easter (Matthew 28:1-10). And He really is coming again as He promised (Acts 1:11).
