Many have made this observation before, but I have found it to be true: There is no better thermometer for your spiritual life than the presence (or absence) of thanks. The opposite of thanks is entitlement, manifested most often by grumbling. Thanks and grumbling can’t co-exist. Try it: Grumble when you’re thankful, give thanks while you are grumbling.
