An Introduction to Philippians 1 Families

Philippians 1

Paul's first chapter to the Philippians outlines several encouragements from Paul to live an authentically Christ-filled life, even in great adversity. Paul was no stranger to trial as he was writing this from prison!

While we in America are blessed, for the moment, with not facing chains for our faith, their are still ups and downs in life that are much better shared with each other.

Philippians 1 Families

Philippians 1 Families is a ministry that aims to: share in each others joys, pray for each other, and tell others about the Good news of Christ, all within the foundation of what really matters in the context of children and family.

That foundation, as Paul mentions in verse 10 and 11 is that we "may approve what is excellent and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes from Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God." There is really nothing more important during these sweet short years we spend with our children when they are young than helping them understand how to make daily application of these verses.

Even as Paul wrote from intense trial, anyone who has raised children knows that with more joy than we can imagine can also come weariness, worry, and sometimes heartache. This group desires to be a place to support moms with young children (and dads!) no matter what situation they are in during this wonderful crazy time of life.

In the business of everyday life we hope for this to be a time to slow down and invest in each other as moms and families and carry each other in prayer throughout the week as Paul mentions in verses 3-4, "I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now." As Paul thanked God for those sharing life and trials with him, we will be able to do the same.

Events & Activities

Our monthly events will be designed to be perfect opportunities to invite friends or family members to introduce them to Living Word and ultimately the "Good News!"

Each Philippians Families activity will be geared toward moms (and dads, who are welcome as well!) of children age newborn through kindergarten. We will schedule our events on different days and times to try and include as many people with varying schedules as possible. Will will do a short devotional and enjoy a fun activity together.

Our first activity will be enjoying the morning at Country Apple Orchard on Friday September 27 at 9:30. We will take a wagon ride out to pick apples, have story time and a snack. The cost is $6 per child who will be picking apples.
