Football Sunday Coming To Living Word

The big game has nearly become a national holiday. Once a year, in the beginning of February, the minds of Americans and many around the world are consumed with the spectacle of the Super Bowl. We often plan our entire days (or weeks) around the game.

This year we'd like to turn that around. We'd like the Sunday of the big game to cause football to point you to Jesus, instead of potentially making you forget about Him.

That's why on Sunday, February 1st, we will be showing a special video presentation during our message time that will feature current and former NFL players, including players from both of this year's teams, giving testimony and honor to why Jesus is the center of their lives. Watch a short preview video below:

A couple of notes:

First, our worship service will not change. We are not providing just another option of being entertained by athletes on that day, but rather an opportunity to see how Jesus Christ has deeply affected their entire lives and worldview. We will still proclaim God's character through song, and through reading and confessing His Word. We will still partake in the Lord's Supper that day. The purpose of highlighting these athletes is knowing that they will be pointing us to Jesus, which is what we will continue to do through the rest of the worship service.

Secondly, we want this to be an easy way to invite friends to church, and we will offer more events like this in the future, but we don't want this to be our norm of how we "get people to church." While it's a great way to invite your friends, we want you to think long-term of loving your friends as Jesus loved, showing who He is to them, and then inviting them to come alongside you to our congregation.
