Preparing for Corporate Worship - February 2, 2020

Written By Ryan Egan on 01/29/2020 | Posted in Congregational LifeWorship

With a new year upon us one of my goals is to resume these posts to help you prepare your hearts and minds for corporate worship. I will try to keep them brief, with listings of each service element and maybe just a couple highlights from those elements if they warrant it for the week. So, here we go!

Call to Worship

Psalm 62:1-8

Songs of Celebration

Confession of Sin

We will be singing 'Daily I Stumble' both as our confession of sin and part of our response to our assurance of pardon this week.

Assurance of Pardon

Don't miss this portion of the service! Let God's word and promises take hold and be firmly planted within you. "You have grace enough for my wayward heart, running out to me with Your open arms."

Confession of Faith

Psalm 65:4-8

What's God's Doing In and Around Living Word

This is a time to celebrate all the work God is doing among us - not just announcements!

Tithes and Offerings

A time where we give back to God a portion of what He's given us.

Pray along with Pastor Kirk as he prays for the congregation and more.

Scripture Readings

Exodus 20:1-7 and Luke 12:13-21

We will be starting a series on the Ten Commandments this week. Have you ever thought of the first commandment as a declaration of grace and not law? God wants us to run to Him and be safe in His grace and care - He doesn't want us chasing after other things that will never satisfy! This week we will look at Isaiah 44:6-20 as our text corresponding to the first commandment.

The Lord's Supper

It's always a beautiful thing to receive this means of grace together as a church body. As you come, sing the songs we sing boldly - as you sit and wait for others to partake, pray for them and their families.

  • Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me (the lyrics to this song hold deep promises and comfort for any situation, as well as a challenge that God is the one working through us, changing us and molding us)
  • Psalm 62 (This beautiful adaptation of the 62nd Psalm puts words in our mouth that declares that we will not look to anything else but God for our comfort and hope)

Every week we receive a 'good word' as the Benediction of our service. Take a hold of these promises and declarations from God's Word!
