Preparing for Corporate Worship - More Than All In Thee I Find

Written By Ryan Egan on 01/31/2019 | Posted in Congregational LifeWorship

We're excited to launch a new series focused on the heart of God and what His word says to our hearts. 'Speaking to the Heart' will focus on a handful of different heart attitudes (anxious, troubled, wounded, and proud) and we will look at various people in Scripture who dealt with these postures. This week we start with looking at the anxious heart.

To that end, the service has been planned and elements picked so that our anxious hearts would see the One who has promised us peace.

Call to Worship

We highly encourage you to come in time for this portion of the service as we try to start our services on time! This week we will look at the last half of Psalm 34 (the first half will be read during the Scripture readings), where one of our Scripture memory passages for February comes from. This beautiful Psalm is worth reading and memorizing throughout the month.

Songs of Celebration

We're excited to bring back Keith and Kristyn Getty's joyous adaptation of Psalm 100 as well as teach you a new song focused on the greatness of God and the greatness of His love and mercy. We trust these will be a wonderful way to start the service.

Confession of Sin and Assurance of Pardon

The beautiful Wesley text "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" is a wonderful way to both confess our sinful nature as well as acknowledge the mercy of God. We pray this rich text will bless you deeply this week.

Confession of Faith

This week we have the privilege of celebrating a baptism and joining in that celebration as our confession of faith.

Greetings and Announcements

A beautiful way to be encouraged at what God is doing among us.

Tithes and Offerings

This time of worship allows us to return a portion of what God has given us back to Him.

Scripture Readings

This week we will be reading Psalm 34:1-10 and Philippians 4:10-20.

Message

Hear God's word speak to you this week, especially to those of you who might have anxious hearts. We will take a look at how Naomi's anxious heart was calmed by help provided by God.

The Lord's Supper

We have the pleasure and privilege to participate in the Lord's Supper this week. As we do so we will sing the beautiful hymn "Be Still My Soul." We pray this song would cement the promises of God's peace to you.

Listen to and Learn Music

As always, head to our music resource page to listen to and learn the music as well as use it as a resource in the coming week.
