Become a Member

You don't have to be a member to be valued and actively involved at Living Word Free Lutheran Church, however, the privileges and responsibilities of membership are valuable:

  • Voting at quarterly congregational meetings, attendance at which is very important
  • Consideration at congregational meetings regarding areas such as budget, staffing, mission, vision and core values
  • Eligibility to serve on the church council, the leadership group elected by the congregation each year
  • Full attendance and voting privileges at the Annual Conference of the AFLC, our larger church body

The process for becoming a new member starts with Discovering Living Word, a six-session class offered 2-3 times per year. After completion, you will have opportunity to visit with a pastor privately about anything you wish. Finally, you will receive recommendation from the deacons to advance to a vote at our next congregational meeting. Those entering membership will affirm their commitment to the congregation and be received at a worship service soon after the congregational meeting.
