The Scripture reading for today's service in the 20th chapter of John details the trouble the disciples had in grasping the facts surrounding Jesus' resurrection. Even when they believed He was alive, these followers of Christ had a hard time comprehending what that meant for them.

Our sermon text for this first Sunday after Easter is found in 1 John 5:4-12 in which John stresses the importance of eternal life being found only through faith in Jesus Christ. It was a lesson perhaps that John had to learn firsthand along with the rest of the disciples. If we are ever tempted to ask for a sign or testimony of God's love for us, or wonder about the certainty of eternal life, we need only to look to the Savior.

Confident in Christ alone,
Pastor Kirk
