Our sermon text today is Matthew 13:18-30. This is a familiar parable to many of you. Jesus uses these illustrations to help the disciples understand that as they share the Gospel, not everyone will respond the same. As Jesus performed miracles and signs, many people placed their trust in Him. I suppose the disciples might have began to think they could expect the same results in the ministries they would have. The disciples overlooked that many others who saw Jesus’ works firsthand refused to believe and even hardened their hearts. 2,000 years later we see a variety of responses to the same Gospel message. We can continue and press on in this work, knowing that God directs His work and His church.

Serving Christ alongside you,
Pastor Kirk Thorson
