It is fitting for us to be studying the book of Ecclesiastes this fall. Our Jewish friends read Ecclesiastes at the Feast of Tabernacles as a part of the festival of harvest. Ecclesiastes is read as part of the remembrance of how God had blessed and provided for His people.

In the midst of this knowledge, Solomon doesn’t avoid the difficult situations in life. He knew all to well the heartache and disappointment that life can bring. Warren Wiersbe describes Solomon’s conclusions,

“Life is filled with difficulties and perplexities, and there’s much that we cannot understand, let alone control. From the human point of view, it’s all vanity and folly. But life is God’s gift to us and He wants us to use it for His glory.”

In Ecclesiastes 7, we read of what Solomon says we can gain in life as we go through adversity; and ultimately how we reflect God’s glory through it all.
