Our sermon text today is found in 1 Corinthians 2:1-10. As the apostle Paul came to Corinth, he found himself under attack and criticism for his preaching style, or perhaps lack of style while preaching. The people of Corinth wanted speakers and preachers who would use strong rhetoric and eloquent words to win people over (The People's Bible Commentary). That wasn't Paul's method of preaching.

In our passage today we will note that Paul makes no apologies for the way he presents the Gospel. Paul focused solely on the cross of Christ; His death and resurrection. I have appreciated our emphasis upon being firmly planted in God's Word and centered on the cross of Christ. May this emphasis never change for us as a congregation.

Serving Christ alongside you,
Pastor Kirk Thorson
